Nathaniel Gardner (1882 - 1944)
is sitting with the baby carriage.
My mother, Alberta Joy Gardner,
is sleeping in the carriage.
Their dog, Chink, is resting on the sidewalk. My mother loved Chink, especially at meal time when she would sneak him the vegetables she did not want to eat.
If that's a Chow Chow, then what a cute name (although hardly PC by today's standards - HA!). Love the carriage too.
ReplyDeleteA handy dog to have around at meal times, it was no doubt getting its five a day even if your mother wasn't;-)
ReplyDeleteSome things never change - kids using the family dog to get out of eating their unwanted food!
ReplyDeleteI could do with a dog like Chink. My own dog turns her nose up at vegetables but will happily steal my meat. Thoroughly enjoyable post, thanks.
ReplyDeleteNice picture. It's not a busy sidewalk. Or should I say 'stoop' since we are in NYC.
ReplyDeleteA great photo and like one of my dog photos this weekend there is a ghost of the photographer too!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of your grandfather and Chink guarding your Mum while she has an alfresco nap. I wish we had had a dog when I was young so I could have disposed of my Brussels sprouts :-)
ReplyDeleteMy mother certainly did not let us children feed our dogs at the table. ha!
