Progress Man is Buried at Silver Springs


Magnolia. Aug. 1. J. Webster Fortenberry, 79, farmer of Progress community, died from a heart attack at his home at 8:50 a. m. Saturday. Funeral rites were held from the Silver Springs Church at 2 p. m. Sunday with the Rev. Frank Hutson of Lexie officiating. Interment followed in Silver Springs cemetery. Pall bearers were C. F. Schilling, G. C. Brumfield, J. W. Goings, Hubert Brown, G. H. Ellzey and Fred Fortenberry. Surviving him are six sons, Tate Fortenberry, Willis Fortenberry, Progress; Milton Fortenberry, Mooresville, Ind.; Robert Fortenberry, Burke Fortenberry, Franklinton, La.; Carl Fortenberry, Frankston, Texas; five daughters, Mrs. Beryl McDaniel, Mrs. Mary McMillan, Mrs. Mamie Costlaw of Frankston, Texas; Mrs. Rosa Penton, Franklinton, La.; Minnie Tucker, Lake Providence, La.; 35 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Lovett Funeral Home was in charge.

    1. Yes. I find it interesting that many older records never mention a wife.
