Sudden Death
Mr. Jessie Brumfield, well-known throughout the county, and who had many friends and relatives, died suddenly Thursday evening near Valley Station. He and Mr. John Murphy were together all day. In the evening, about 2 o’clock, Mr. Brumfield complained of feeling sleepy and lay down upon a bed. Mr. Murphy also laid down beside him, and dropped off to sleep. After sleeping for about two hours, he awoke and attempted to rouse Mr. Brumfield, when to his astonishment he found that he was dead. Mr. Murphy noticed no usual sound or struggle in Mr. Brumfield, and thinks he must have died from heart failure, from which he suffered at times. Mr. Murphy thinks he had been dead about two hours before he knew it.
Mr. John Brumfield, brother of the deceased, and deputy Circuit Clerk, was notified Friday morning, leaving at once to the burial, which took place that evening.
Mr. Brumfield leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death, who have the sympathy of many in the sudden death of their husband and father.
