Forget Me Not: Daniel W. Fortenberry, Policeman, 1957 MS

My 2nd cousin, 2x removed

 




Daniel W. Fortenberry, 69, of 604 W. Pearl St., died Thursday night after suffering a heart attack while attending the Policeman’s Ball.

 

He had been a resident of Jackson for the past 33 years and was a retired building contractor and policeman. He was born and reared in Pike Co., he son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ivin H. Fortenberry. He was a Masson, a Shriner and a member of the Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie E. Fortenberry at Jackson; four sons, Daniel W. Fortenberry, Jr. of Seattle, Wash., E. T. and Nelson Fortenberry, both of Jackson, and William S. Fortenberry of the U. S. Navy, stationed aboard the USS Frank Knox; three daughters, Mrs. Jack Medley of Lubbock, Tex., Mrs. B. E. Lee of Jackson and Mrs. T. B. Williamson of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, Bernard Fortenberry of Marks and Robert Fortenberry of Ark.; four sisters, Mrs. Charles Schillings of Hattiesburg, Mrs. Golda Lane of Summitt, Mrs. Murray Reagin of Magnolia and Mrs. Dean Alford of Progress; and seven grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 p. m. from the Baldwin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Girling officiating. Interment will be in the Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery.
