Walthall County’s Oldest Citizen Dead

Tylertown, August 5. Funeral services were conducted here by the Rev. V. C. Walker for Mrs. Jane Brumfield, with interment at the family burial ground near the home. Mrs. Brumfield, who was 94 years of age, probably the oldest resident of Walthall county, died at her home ten miles north of this place. Mrs. Brumfield was married on June 16, 1851, to Isaac Brumfield who died several years ago. She leaves five sons: Jesse Brumfield, Kokomo, Miss.,; Richard Brumfield, Baton Rogue, La.; Joe D. Brumfield, New Orleans; A. G. and Sam O. Brumfield of this county, and two daughters: Mrs. S. M. Foil and Mrs. W. M. Foil, also of this county. She also leaves 330 [sic?] living grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great and great-great-great grandchildren.

I am guessing that the 330 grandchildren is an error!

Sarah’s husband was my 1^st cousin, 4x removed, Isaac Nelson Brumfield.
