DAR = Daughters of the American Revolution. “Ancestor #” indicates a patriot recognized by the organization for his patriotic/military service.
* Indicates a ‘direct line” ancestor; a person from whom you are directly descended, such as parents, grandparents, great grandparents, etc. These people are different from “collateral relatives” such as siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins. To become a Daughter of the American Revolution or a Son of the American Revolution you must prove your soldier is a “direct line” ancestor.
