Amanuensis Monday – 1901 Gruissy, Morrison Letter

From Geneabloggers: An Amanuensis is a person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another. Amanuensis Monday is a daily blogging theme which encourages the family historian to transcribe family letters, journals, audiotapes, and other historical artifacts. Not only do the documents contain genealogical information, the words breathe life into kin – some we never met – others we see a time in their life before we knew them.

This letter was written to my great grandmother,
N. Regina (Gruissy) Mark 1879 OH – 1959 OH

To: Miss Regina Gruissy, Leroy, Medina Co., OH
From: E. Morrison, Sullivan, OH
Postmarked: 17 Jan 1901, Sullivan, OH

[1] Regina’s half sister was Margaret Jane Gruissy b 26 Dec 1861. Margaret married Seth Morrison. In 1900 they were living in Sullivan Twp., Ashland Co., OH. In 1910 they lived in Medina County. This letter may refer to their move.
[2] E Morrison was most likely Emily Morrison, b 1867, sister of Seth B Morrison.

  1. She sounds very worried. Do you know the back-story of this letter?
