Forget Me Not: Arthur D. Alford of Pike, MS

‘Arthur Alford Funeral Rites held Wednesday’




"Funeral services for Arthur D. Alford, 78, of the Silver Springs Community, were conducted Wednesday at 11 a. m. from the Silver Creek Baptist church with the rev. Joe Lovelady officiating. Mr. Alford died Tuesday at the home of a brother, Martin Alford, where he resided. He was an invalid and suffered for years from a crippling affliction. 

Pallbearers for the funeral included his nephews: Dalton Alford, Floyd Alford, Harold Alford, Ray Earl Barnes, Maurice Alford and Brown Ellzey. He was born September 17, 1880, in old Pike County, a son of Needham Alford and Laura Brumfield Alford. He had resided with his brother for the past 12 years.

 Interment was in Silver Creek Cemetery with Ginn in charge of funeral arrangements. Survivors include two brothers, Martin E. Alford of Osyka, and Otis Alford, Tylertown. He was also survived by a sister, Mrs. Fanny Stewart of Tylertown."
