I am
very excited that I am about to attend the National Genealogical Society's Conference in
Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2014 I attended the conference in Richmond,
Virginia. It was a fantastic experience and I learned a lot about researching
in Virginia.
This
year I hope to learn great skills for researching my North Carolina family
members.
I
have looked through the long list of lectures and selected those who will best
help me with my research. Most of them focus on North Carolina. I also want to
learn about ‘Spreadsheets for Genealogists’, ‘Citing Your Sources’ and creating
a ‘Free Map Collection in Google Earth’. I hope to leave the conference with
practical skills that I can use when I get home again.
After
registering for the conference I made a list of my North Carolina family
members with any locations and dates that I know. That should help me to focus
on the information I want to acquire and to ask helpful, detailed questions.
The
Exhibit Hall is another place I hope to visit. At the last conference I bought
several books that contained useful information that helped my research. I look
forward to filling my arms with books!
Hope
to see you at the conference!
